It comes in three variants, 6GB RAM with 64GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage with colour options like Aurora Blue, Glacier White, and Interstellar Black. Box content and Structure
Unboxing, you get to see the cool and stylish Redmi Note Pro Max, a transparent case, a sim-tray ejector, a 33W fast charger and the warranty card and some documents. On the right side of the phone there is a side mounted finger print sensor cum power button, and a volume rocker. On the top side of the phone are the ir( Infra red) blaster and a primary microphone. On the left side of the phone is the hybrid dual dim tray. The bottom of the phone includes a speaker grill, secondary microphone, a usb type-c port and our lovely 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone comes with corning gorilla glass 5 protection on the front and back. The design is awesome but the back panel takes finger prints very easily and are noticeable. So it is required to keep the phone in a case.
Display
It sports a big 6.67-inch 60Hz IPS LCD display with a punch-hole in the top-centre. It has a peak brightness of 450 nits and has a pixel density of 395ppi. The phone is quite tall and bulky which makes it a bit uncomfortable to use single-handedly. This is probably because it accommodates a big 5,020mAh battery which adds bulk to it. However, the weight has been evenly distributed through out this phone. So the in-hand feel is good. The smartphone has Z- axis motor which produces 150 types of vibrations. This is something that Xiaomi was very proud to speak about in the launch event.
UI And SoC
The Smartphone runs on MIUI 11 which is based on Android 10. Its UI consists of many ads and pre-installed bloatware. This is typical of a Xiaomi mobile. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Octa-core SoC which is a powerful processor and will handle heavy tasks very well. The smartphone will get warm while playing heavy games like PUBG or PEZ for longer durations. It has an Adreno 618 GPU which enhances the gaming experience.
Battery
It offers very good battery life and can easily run on a single charge for more than 30 hours for an average user with occasional gaming and media consumption. It has support for 33W fast charging which is very helpful and is capable of topping the device up in about an hour which is great. A 33W fast charger comes with the phone which completely charges the phone in 70 minutes.
Camera
The rear camera boasts a 64 MP f/1.89, primary camera (Samsung sensor), a 8 MP f/2.2 wide angle camera, a 5 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The phone manages good shots during the day. In low-light, the night mode does a great job and clicks good quality photos. The videos are electrically stabilised and it supports 4K video recording at 30fps. There is a 32 MP front selfie camera for amazing photo and video capturing. The camera takes very good pictures both in day light and in low light conditions the night mode comes handy. It’s front camera sensors are the best in this price range. It supports 1080p video recording at 30fps.
Other important features
The phone features Wi-fi calling and call recording options. Dolby Atmos is not available. The phone has a side mouned finger print sensor which works really quick. Sensors like compass, proximity, finger print sensor, face unlock, accelerometer, ambint light snsor, gyrometer and proximity are included in this smartphone. The phone is splash proof.
Bottom line
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the best smartphone in the under 20k Rs. price segment. I will surely recommend this phone to anyone as this is a budget phone with features that a common man needs like good camera quality, a able processor( not the best ), appreciable battery, great display and design. Redmi note series has always received great support in the Indian market and surely Note 9 Pro Max will not be an exception in terms of sale. Well as i have already mentioned there are some small cons like bloatware and bulge of the camera bump but these are adjustable issues and not a big issue considering the pros of the smartphone
