Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G

Samsung announced the launch of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G on 5th August 2020 and it is set to debut in the country on 28 August 2020. The handset will go on sale in initial markets on August 21. It is priced at Rs 1,04,999 in India.

The Smartphone comes with an in-display ultrasonic finger-print sensor. Face unlock feature is also available. Of course, the smartphone has some incredible specs, like a 120Hz screen refresh rate, a stunning design, 108-megapixel primary camera, an improved Stylus S Pen,wireless Dex option, UWB support and link to windows option for more better productivity.

Inside the box, the smartphone comes with a 25W super fast charger, a type-c cable, a usb c to c cable for reversible charging and a usb type-c AKG premier earphones and some extra ear tips.

The dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G has a stunning 6.9-inch WQHD (1,440×3,200 pixels) Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED (FHD+) panel with 2X curved-edge display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. Going beyond the numbers, the experience of using that massive screen with impeccable smoothness for streaming, typing or simply browsing is what makes the phone really special. The giant piece of tech has been crafted from metal and glass with frosted glass matte finish at the back. The smartphone will be available in three colour options – Mystic Bronze, Mystic White and Mystic Black.

The handset comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC processor or octa-core Exynos 990 depending on the market. The dual-SIM (Nano) Samsung Galaxy Note 20 runs on Android 10 with One UI 2.5 on top. It comes with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage which is expandable upto 512 GB using micro SD cards.

On the rear side, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has the big camera module which makes it stand out from everything else in the market. The company has assured that all the lenses are protected by corning gorilla glass. Not only the lenses but the front and back of the camera is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Samsung has assured that it is the best Gorilla glass that has ever been used on any smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G has a triple rear camera setup with a 108-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, a 12-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel tertiary sensor with an f/3.0 lens which offers 3x optical zoom and 50x space zoom and supports 8K video recording as well. Further, there is a 10-megapixel selfie camera sensor as well.

The key highlight of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is the intelligent Stylus S pen. It supports five new gestures and Samsung has improved the latency from 42 milliseconds to 9 milliseconds and the response is super quick and amazing which can be noticed while using the handset. The phone takes no time in registering what is written or drawn with the S pen.

The Smartphone comes with Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) support that works with preloaded Nearby Share feature which enables easy-sharing experience with any compatible device. Lastly, the phone packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports fast wired and wireless charging. Fat wireless power sharing feature is also available. The 25W fast charger charges the phone from 0-50% in just 30 mins. There are complaints that samung has downgraded from the 45W charger in Galaxy S20 but personally speaking it helps the company in cutting cost.

Samsung has also managed to get eSIM support on the Note 20 Ultra 5G, which is the most under-rated and least-talked about feature of this phone. It allows you to replace at least one physical SIM with an eSIM and insert a microSD card (up to 1TB) to increase the internal storage of 256GB. For now, the eSIM service is available with Airtel and Jio.

Bottom line

Though the phone is a bit over priced it is worth buying considering the super features that have been introduced in the smartphone. What struck me the most is the awesome Dynamic-AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate which gives an awesome experience while viewing content or watching videos.
