Samsung M31s: What’s New
The front of the phone has an edge-to-edge 6.5-inch AMOLED display and a small hole for the front-facing camera. The 6.5-inch super AMOLED display is perfect for watching movies, editing videos and reading epapers. The display is bright and colourful. That’s typical of a Samsung AMOLED display. Flip the phone, and you will notice the rectangular camera bump on the top left. This setup is similar to that of the Galaxy S series. On the left side there’s the SIM tray, while on the right, there’s a power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner and volume rocker. On the bottom, there’s a USB-C port, a speaker and a headphone jack.
Like the Galaxy A51, the M31s’s back panel is made of polycarbonate plastic with a glass-like finish, which is hard to differentiate. The build quality is solid, though there is no waterproof rating. You can get the Galaxy M31s in Mirage Black and Mirage Blue colour options.
Another welcome change is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It’s way quicker and more reliable than in-display optical fingerprint sensors.
And how does the battery last on the Galaxy M31s?
The Galaxy M31s is powered by a 6,000mAh battery that can easily get you through two days. The 25W bundled fast charger will come handy which fully charges the phone in just 97 mins. The smartphone can also be used as a power bank as Samsung has introduced the new feature of Reversible charging in M31s which cannot be seen in other M series smart phones.
What’s striking about the Cameras
Samsung has improved the camera quality on the Galaxy M31s. On the back of the phone, you will find a 64MP primary Sony IMX682 sensor with an f/1.8 lens, a 12MP secondary sensor with a 123-degree ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP Macro lens which is for close-up shots while the 5MP depth lens is capable of taking portrait shots with live focus.
The main highlight of the camera in Samsung M31s is Single Take. The “Single Take” feature harnesses AI to capture different versions of the same moment. With “Single Take“, all the user has to do is press record at the right moment and Galaxy M31s will capture the footage, up to 10 seconds of it, and then use AI to produce up to 10 different outputs – seven photos and three videos. The ‘Single Take’ feature is available on both the rear and front cameras. This feature will come handy while recording special and memorable moments like birthday parties.
The company has also introduced the feature of switching between rear and front cameras which recording videos which is great and highly beneficial, so the user need not pause while taking videos to switch cameras.
Galaxy M31s has video capability with 4K recording and it supports slow-mo, Hyperlapse and super-steady modes. In addition, Galaxy M31s also has night mode for awesome low light photography. The 32MP front camera also supports 4K video recording and slow-mo selfies. Galaxy M31s combines powerful camera hardware with Intelli-Cam features.
