Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro Launch date in India, Specifications, price.

Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro, a exclusive Indian market smartphone from the company is expected to be launched on May 6 2021. The expectations form this phone are very high, considering what we have seen on the Mi 11 and Mi 11 ultra smartphones. The pricing is very aggressive and no doubt companies will have a very tough time competing with this beast.

At just Rs.39,999 the Mi 11X Pro brings a lot to the table. The latest Qualcomm snapdragon 888 5G SoC 5nm Octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 660 GPU takes the performance to the next level. It runs Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top. Ads and bloatware are no expected as Xiaomi is launching it as their “PRO” device.

Display

The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro comes with a 6.67 inches E4 AMOLED, HDR10+ 120Hz display with a peak brightness of 1300 nits. It has a 86% screen-to-body ratio with Corning Gorilla glass 5 protection on top. The 20:9 (395 ppi density) aspect ratio is a standard one though the ppi density ought to be a bit higher provided it is a flagship killer device. The 360Hz refresh rate makes the Mi 11X Pro advantageous for gamers. Sadly, the in-display finger print sensor has been replaced by a side-mounted sensor which is faster though. We also have the face-unlock option (obviously, since it’s android).

  • E4 AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1300 nits (peak)
  • 6.67 inches, 107.4 cm2 (~85.9% screen-to-body ratio)
  • 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~395 ppi density)
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 5

Performance

The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro runs the same processor which the Samsung S21 Ultra (USA version) runs. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC which is primarily built for heavy gaming and multi-tasking is currently the fastest android SoC in the smartphone market. The optimization and tight integration of the software is a major factor for lag-free performance and smoothness in any flagship device.

The Mi 11X Pro runs Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top. The Adreno 660 GPU is a powerful one. Overall, the perfect processor and GPU at this price point.

Rear camera sensor (Triple)

108 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), PDAF
8 MP, f/2.2, 119˚ (ultrawide)
5 MP, f/2.4, 50mm (macro), 1/5.0″, 1.12µm

Single Selfie camera

20 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/3.4″, 0.8µm

The f/1.8 108MP lens is decent according to the “PRO” tag and excellent in accordance to the price bracket. Xiaomi has now started to provide 108MP high-res camera sensors in most of their Mi smartphone, including the Mi10 I which is priced under Rs.30,000.

Note:- The Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra bet the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra in our camera test and I am eager to test this one too.

The 119 degrees ultra-wide angle is a standard offering but I think Xiaomi should have replaced the f/2.2 lens with a f/2.0 for better night performance. The 5MP macro sensor is good.

The selfie camera has a f/2.5 aperture lens which is perfect for portarait shots. Overall, the on-paper specs are amazing.

I get a feeling that Xiaomi is seeing Samsung as it’s camera competitor. While Samsung used to be the only manufacturer producing smartphones which could shoot 8K, Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro has joined the race too. The funny part is that you would most likely not want to shoot videos above 4K considering that you would need a 8K TV to enjoy the content and also that it demands a pretty high amount of device storage.

While Samsung has expandable storage or at least a 512GB storage on their top-end devices, Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro is limited to just 256GB and that too without expandable storage.

Memory

The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro has LPDDR5 fast RAM and UFS 3.1 fast storage, no issues with that. However, it’s top variant is configured 256/8GB which is kind of satisfying if you can put an external SD card, but the Xiaomi Mi 11 X Pro doesn’t equip a memory card slot which is ridiculous considering the 8K video recording feature. Also, some people are complaining about the lack of 12GB RAM which kind of makes sense because of the powerful Qualcomm snapdragon 888 SoC.

Personally, I don’t fell bad for the 8GB RAM configuration but I do feel that 256GB internal storage is not enough.

Battery

The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro has a li-Po 4520 mAh, non-removable battery with 33W fast charging support (Quick charge 3+). It has PD 3.0 which is a fast charging technology that was manufactured by the USB Implementers Forum. Basically, it is a USB wire which can pass up to 100W of power through it. The phone charges from 0-100 in just 52% (advertised).

Connectivity

WLANWi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot
Bluetooth5.2, A2DP, LE
GPSYes, with dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, NavIC
NFCNo
Infrared portYes
RadioNo
USBUSB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go

Sound

It has stereo speaker support and lacks 3.5mm jack. So, a dongle needs to be bought if you are using wired earphones. The sound quality is great.

Sensors

It equips all the major sensors like Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, color spectrum and barometer.

Bottom line

The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro is a complete package and is worth considering.

Specs that can’t get better

  • Most powerful Qualcomm sd888 5G
  • 108MP primary rear sensor
  • 8K@30 fps video recording
  • Below Rs.40,000

Specs that could have been better

  • No OIS
  • No expandable storage
  • 12GB RAM
  • Camera performance not up to the mark.
