Display And Design

iPhone 12 features a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a pixel resolution of 1170×2532 and 460 ppi density which makes content consumption and browsing perfect. The greater pixel resolution displays colors more accurately and increases the sharpness of letters and the dynamic range of images. The display has a Ceramic Shield front cover which has a greater scatter resistance but it has a lesser scratch resistance because shatter resistance is inversely proportional to scratch resistance. The small size makes it easier to use it single-handedly. The smartphone has a 86.89% screen-to-body ratio and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone survives water under 6 m for 30 mins without damage and is IP68 certified for Dust/Water resistance. Dolby Vision and True-tone are the highlights of the display and the contrast ratio is 2 million:1.

The iPhone 12 comes in three storage configurations 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB. Of course the storage is not expandable and you have to pay more to get 256 GB of storage. There is 4 GB and the RAM management of the iPhone 12 is great and is better than the 8 GB RAM provided by other company mobiles. This is because iOS is optimized in such a way that it consumes a very little part of the RAM whereas Android requires a greater RAM space. This is the reason why iPhone never had 8 GB of RAM; it doesn’t need that.

Apple iPhone 12 packs a 2810 mAh battery with 20W fast charging support which charges the phone to 50% in 30 mins. The charger is not included in the box but a USB type-C to lightning cable has been given with the box and can be plugged to a USB adapter if you have one. There is 15W Qi fast wireless charging and USB power delivery 2.0. The specialty in charging is that the iPhone 12 series supports all the MagSafe accessories. MagSafe is a kind of charging feature which sticks to the back of the smartphone as a result of magnetic attraction and then charges the smartphone.

Now how does the MagSafe charging feature aid charging in support to the Qi wireless charging feature. Sound quality is very good on the iPhone 12 with the stereo speakers. Of course there is no 3.5mm Headphone jack which was removed long time ago.

Talking about the sensors; there are pretty useful sensors packed into the Apple iPhone 12. One of my favorite sensors is the Augmented reality sensor that is packed into the SL 3D camera which calculates the height of the object that is focused. This feature is kind of cool and unique. Though the measurements are not that accurate, the sensor will give you a pretty decent calculation and is a good feature to keep in your mobile.

There are all the sensors that are packed in normal smartphones like the Proximity, Accelerometer, Gyro, Compass, Barometer and Biometrics. Now another unique sensor is the Siri natural language commands and dictation sensor. Needless to say about the sensor, it makes life simple and easy. You just need to say ‘Hey Siri’ and Siri will interpret the words said there after as commands and take necessary actions. Be it calling an Ambulance during an emergency situation or texting your friends, Siri does all that.
