The Android tablet space will soon see some exciting new launches. Samsung continues to be the leader in this space with its high-end models. Lenovo has also launched some mid-range models with interesting features like HDMI output and solid performance. The latest entrants in this space are the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro from Xiaomi. These are 11 inch Android tablets with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processors and high resolution displays. Both tablets are now up for pre-order in China for prices starting at about 310 USD.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This is the entry level model and is priced at around 310 USD. A configuration with 256GB storage is also available and it will cost around 355 USD. The LCD display has 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. Other features include a 13 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera, quad speakers and support for optional keyboard and digital pen accessories. Connectivity options include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5, NFC and 4G LTE.
The Mi Pad 5 Pro starts at around 385 USD. This is a Wi-Fi only model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The configuration with 8G of RAM and 256 GB of storage will run 540 USD. This model also supports 5G connectivity, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, eight speakers and a 8,600 mAh battery supporting 67 W fast charging. The Mi Pad Pro has a 13 MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera whereas the Mi Pad Pro 5G has a 50 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. At launch these tablets will be only available in China. Before long, however, they might be available to international buyers through websites like AliExpress.
